WHAT IS LAL DORA LAND?

For maintenance of revenue records under the British regime in 1908, a red line was drawn on maps separating the village population from the adjacent agricultural land, particularly in Delhi. Lal Dora land is the name classification assigned to the part of village land, which comprises the village habitation, referred to as Abadi. This land was usually used for keeping livestock and farm produce.

After independence, the Government extended Lal Dora villages in Delhi. After freedom, the extended village Abadi residents enjoy relaxation from house tax.

Lal Dora land is exempt from building bye-laws and construction norms laid down by the Delhi Municipal Act. With a notification passed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in 1963, it was no longer mandatory for buildings on Lal Dora land to be sanctioned by any authority.
